Floored by Stickers?

sticker(2).jpg

Suddenly these stickers are everywhere – featuring people and the written word – strategically pasted on ‘high-footfall’ passages in cinemas, malls and stores.
Except that, call me old-fashioned, I cringe every time someone steps on them. It’s like stepping on someone.
I understand visibility, but is that all a brand seeks, so blatantly? What about people featured on these stickers? What about the written word that many still hold sacrosanct? And the sanctity of our brands?

  • Well in the particular picture that you displayed, the advertisers seemed to have focussed on only one aspect of human anatomy i.e. feet. For,although there is a huge footfall where the stickers are glued, the sheer microscopicity of the ads will never ensure that any eyeball will be drawn or fixated to it .
So my sugegstion, the sticker ads should be less wordy and more graphic. The Hulchul pic for e.g. is too verbose to attract the SMS generation of today.
  • After posting the comment I thought of a sci-fi story I'd read where a life sciences/biotech company is approached by a marketing whiz proposing that they 'grow' certain species that are branded on their skins. Gaaadzzooooks...imagine fish with a MacD logo on their tails or sunflowers with a Wipro symbol in their center!!!!
Should we buy from them? The answer is simple. But consider - Will we? I don't think either of us can answer that.
  • Idea - lol. Am sure there are many others who feel the same way.
Ya! But should we be buying from them ;).
    Keep writing.

  • I thought I was the only one trying to walk between the stickers. And the others thought I was playing hopscotch.
But does this surprise you? In a few years, people may be renting out their foreheads, their hands and heaven-alone-knows what else as adspace.
