Dad completes 62 ; may the singing and travels continue.

Dad completes 62 today :)
Two years ago when I shared this with you, I had prayed for his good health and for his songs to continue. Life has been kind, the last couple of years have just zoomed past – lot’s of travel, fun and singing has kept us all engaged.
Please continue to send you good wishes and blessings for his good heath, lots of fun travel, and lots more songs. Music is his life and dad’s been learning to play the harmonium for nearly a year now. He has many ‘Very Good’ and ‘Very Very Good’ remarks from his teacher, who raves about his technical understanding – the fingers are still coming to tune.
I recorded a short rendition of the “Gayatri Mantra” that he played this morning:

However, he was more keen to sing one of his favourite oldie numbers: “Ye hawa ye raat, ye chandani” from the movie ‘Sangdil’, originally rendered by Talat Mahmood.

Do leave your comments and may our parents always remain in good health. Amen.

  • Dear Vinay,
Thank you so much for the kind words. I think we only start to understand the value of our parents with passing time. At least true in my case :). Please do keep writing.
I am thinking about setting up a blog for my dad's songs. Will keep you updated.
    Cheers
    Rajesh
  • Hi Rajesh,
Your Dad's rendition of "Ye hawa ye raat, ye chandani" brought back memories of my Dad singing the same song at all gatherings when I was a kid (I am 51 now, so I guess it was a long time back!). It was his favorite number too and even today it brings back old memories of times when life was not so hectic.
By the way I reached here through Alltops social media link and ended up going down memory lane. What luck. All the very best to your Dad and I will come back to this page and listen to the song again.
    Cheers
    Vinay
  • Abhishek - Amen. Thanks so much. Yes, please do keep me updated. We do go out for concerts often so will look forward to hearing from you again :)
    Cheers

    Rajesh hi,
Looking at your relationship with your father one can only wish that the celebrations never stop year after year.
If he is interested in attending Indian Classical Concerts, which will be regular as winters arrive, I will keep updating .
Wish him the best of health and you the best of times with him.
    Cheers!
  • Hi Kevin - thanks a lot for the wishes :) - grateful.
Also, my apologies for the delay in acknowledging your message.
    Keep writing.
    Cheers.
    Rajesh
  • Hey Rajesh, I wish you dad a very long life and belated happy b'day....I am working as a media manager in Data Recovery Company...
  • Yuvika - Thank you so much for the wishes.
Sometimes the realization of what's really valuable comes late, but when it does we should make the most of what we have. Interestingly, the older we grow, the more the realization that we are like 'them' :).
    Keep writing.
    Cheers
    Rajesh
  • Nidhi - Dad gave a shy smile when I read you message :). We had a great day yesterday.
