Blogworks “India Bloggers Directory” – Edition 1

IndiaBloggersDirectoryCover(2).jpg

Blogworks is publishing 1st edition of the India Bloggers Directory. India’s first blogger directory.
A pocket guide to an ever growing list of Indian blogs, the book aims to help users and marketers navigate the live web by informing them about sites of interest, categorized by subject. The book will also have a select listing of Twitter users from India.
While a lot of this information is already available in public domain, this form will help us reach out to many more people. Please fill it and circulate amongst your blogger friends.
The accompanying image is NOT the cover design, we decided to just have a little fun while we wait for the design to come in – enjoy :)
UPDATE, 16 April, 2009 @ 8.46 am: The accompanying image IS THE COVER DESIGN for the directory. Designed by the very creative Naina Redhu of Aside design studio.
This is what she said about the cover “…the concentric circles represent bloggers – like a widening circle – network – multi-hued…”
Loving it!
Cheers

The real pioneer work in compiling the Indian blogs is done by Amit Agarwal. You can find the list of Indian bloggers at the following URL: http://www.labnol.org/india-blogs/indian-bloggers.html
  • Great effort. Truly remarkable.
  • Thanks Gautam :) - entries are a mere trickle still so it helps to get the word out. Thanks again :)

  • Sam : Thanks. Well, step-by-step, let's try and do the first edition first :). The idea is to make the database available at one place, by subject, in your hand. Indiblogger is great and we will need to see how we can add further value. We have taken our first steps right now, and are seeing the first trickle of entries come in.
    Cheers

This is a great initiative Rajesh. Will you have a few editions every year? I work with an agency at Chennai that works with bloggers and I normally search on indilogger. Will this be the same?
  • Posted about it on my blog :-)
  • This is a good intiative Rajesh. Did try filling out the form, but couldn't access sumbit which should have been at the bottom. Lost everything twice. :0(
  • Thanks a lot Praval, for flagging the problem - fixed it now. Do fill up the form.
    Cheers

  • Rajesh.
Looks like the link to - this form will help us reach out to many more people - is broken!
    Btw, a good initiative!
    Cheers.
  • Well Rajesh, it surely is a humongous effort. Every such effort usely has so many 'nay-sayers'. I dont want to be one!
The challenge would be for the bloggers to participate in the effort. Am sure the professional bloggers would make a beeline for it.
    All the best!
  • You tell me Sushil.
Many stakeholders seem to need it. The information is scattered; it is a pain to find out more about blog authors - try doing it. Ultimately the success or the failure will depend on how keen the blog authors themselves are about the initiative.
Also, nothing is stopping us from also putting it online, the idea is to get to know the people behind the blogs, and their contacts, at one location.
    Keep writing.
    Cheers

  • Hi,
while i appreciate the efforts...is a directory really needed, arent we then heading back to the old-generation. after all today directory is the search engine which gives listing based on ur requirements(tags).
without sounding pessimistic...moreover as we write, more and more bloggers are coming online with their ideas...so how do u real time this...
    just a few thoughts...
  • Its a very nice concept!
