Same true you?

I discovered Truemors a few weeks ago but hadn't been able to post anything on the site yet. Today I opened my account with this post essentially asking if Facebook is likely to post a threat to Orkut's social networking leadership in India.

If the number of friends adding me on FB suddenly is any indication, then it does seem possible. I was seeing that when I wrote this about new beginnings in social networking. FB hadn't announced opening of 3rd party applications then and post that has been nothing short of a flood.

True. Truemors! Its catching up pretty fast. My plas shifting to FB too, reason?

All travelling alot. Meeting new people in US & UK , where Orkut doesn't have much influence.

Hiring got a new angle through FB: FB Market place.

Events , University connection, exclusive lists & better UG communities, widgets, Slide.com connection, Network Statistics .... etc etc.

"Orkut is good - its plance and simple. You'll get ur KG pal out there, so sure. Trend is FB - better ya follow it, cause my Employer CIO blocked Orkut, but I love my friends!" - attitude, simple?

btw Twitter application for FB is cool.

Even at this point when I am unable to devote enough time to observe what is happening on social media, the one fact that is glaring into face is that the tipping point for Facebook in India has come. In the past two days about 10 people have added me. Most of them I can safely say are not 'early adopters' of technology. We are told that the golden rule of success for social networking sites is that people join it not for any money, freebies or such rewards but for being on the same space where most of their friends are. If one is to by that statement then for me Fb has INDEED arrived. I am compelled to join it because the everyday requests from friends are acting as a reminder that I need to be there!!

Kris - Yup I like the Twitter application on FB too :).

Amita - I am there let's connect :). Not just that friends are there, but also what more can I do -
FB is becoming such a vibrant place thanks to integration with 3rd party applications that it is becoming a one stop shop - for e.g. when I want to be on Twitter, I just need to open my FB page and do all that I want to + leave my tweets.
