The Need:
We believe that the role of communication & marketing has changed in the age of the individual. The individual has never been more powerful – as a consumer; as part of the social fabric; as a creator of content.
This power is the result of today’s networked environment where consumer technology is enabling individuals to be heard, find like-minded people and come together as groups, like never before.
Where earlier mainstream media alone was the key conduit through which information traveled and opinion was formed, no longer is the individual dependent on just the media to be heard – s/he speaks for himself through blogs, podcasts, videos, wikis and other emergent communication tools that enable ‘social media’.
Corporates and brands need to not just listen to what the individual is saying, but also participate in these conversations – it is therefore crucial that we understand the social media concepts and tools and use them to our advantage.
The workshop covers: Concept clarity on web 2.0, social media tools etc.; utility of blogs and other emergent social media tools on/ for corporates and brands; practical walk-through on setting up some of the important tools.
